Wintrobe1has listed and discussed the diverse conditions in which eosinophilia appears. However, only the following lines referable to cancer appear in this textbook about a miscellaneous group of disorders in which eosinophilia occurs: Tumours of the ovary, various other neoplasms, especially those involving serous surfaces or bones or when necrosis of tumour tissue occurs. Scant attention to this finding in cancer was given in the American literature until the appearance of the report by Isaacson and Rapoport2in 1946.
