Participan activamente durante la practica del deporte, la muneca, el codo, el hombro, la rotacion del tronco y el desplazamiento de los miembros inferiores en constante flexion de rodillas. Objetivo : estimar la prevalencia de lesiones en deportistas que practican el tenis de mesa. Metodologia: estudio cuantitativo, descriptivo, transversal realizado a deportistas activos y pertenecientes a Clubes afiliados a la Liga de Tenis de Mesa del Departamento de Antioquia, Colombia, con mas de un ano de dedicacion a dicho deporte, mayores de diez anos, sin que paralelamente realizaran otros deportes competitivos o tuviesen lesiones producto de deportes o accidentes. Todos participaron de forma voluntaria y no se consideraron deportistas recreativos. La presencia de lesion fue explorada por pregunta realizada dentro de un formulario. No se realizo valoracion clinica ni se utilizo metodo de diagnostico. No se intento precisar el tipo de lesion. Resultados: las regiones anatomicas mas afectadas fueron: hombro (28%), rodilla (26%) y region lumbosacra (10%). Las regiones anatomicas donde se informaron lesiones coinciden con lo ampliamente senalado, pero las prevalencias y el orden de frecuencia de lesiones fueron diferentes. Ninguno de los deportistas participantes manifesto traumatismo de globo ocular. Conclusiones: en jugadores de tenis de mesa se encontro que en orden descendente las regiones anatomicas mas afectadas fueron: hombro, rodilla y region lumbar. SUMMARY Introduction: table tennis is a complex sport, in which velocity, reflexes, instantaneous decision and the management of the effects and the technique are important. The wrist, elbow, shoulder, the trunk rotation and displacement of the lower limbs in constant knees flexion take part actively during the practice of the sport. Objective: to estimate the prevalence of injuries in athletes who practice table tennis. Methodology: Descriptive study with cross-sectional and quantitative components, carried out in active athletes from clubs affiliated to the Liga de Tenis de Mesa of the Department of Antioquia, Colombia, with more than one year of dedication to this sport, older than ten years, without also make other competitive sports or to have injuries due to sports or accidents. They all participated voluntarily and they did not consider themselves as leisure athletes. The presence of injure was explored by a question asked in a questionnaire. Neither clinical evaluation was carried out nor diagnosis method was used. The type of injury was not tried to specify. Results: the affected anatomical regions were: shoulder (28%), knee (26%) and lumbosacral region (10%). The anatomical regions in which injuries were informed coincide with that marked thoroughly, but the prevalence and the order of frequency of injuries were different. None of the participants expressed ocular trauma. Conclusion: in table tennis players was found that, in descending order, the most affected anatomical regions were: shoulder, knee and lumbosacral region.
