Polymyxins A and D possess significant nephrotoxic action and are no longer employed in therapy. Polymyxins B and E produce annoying, though harmless, neurotoxic side effects but are not significantly nephrotoxic if administered intramuscularly in doses not exceeding 2.5 mg./kg./day to persons with good renal function.2, 3These drugs are rapidly bactericidal for gram-negative organisms and have been particularly useful in the management of infections due toPseudomonas aeruginosa.3,...Bibliography1.
