- W149831407 abstract "The prostate biopsy for appropriately indicating minimally invasive treatment option would require the improvement in accuracy of cancer visualization as well as enhancement in precision of needle delivery. These have accelerated the integration of three-dimensional image guidance with a robotic targeting system. Real-time MRI or 3D TRUS image-based digitalized planning, monitoring, and navigation is now available. Computer-assisted navigation technology also allows real-time TRUS-guided intervention fused with other digitalized imaging modalities such as MRI. The digitalized imaging data of the biopsy trajectory can provide the coordinates of biopsy-proven cancer lesion in the 3D space of the prostate and it would be essential for integration with the digitalized programmed robotic targeting in the repeated prostate biopsy or future intervention. Since the prostate is a mobile organ and prostatic shape is likely different from that in preoperative image, introducing a reliable real-time feedback circuit would be important for providing continuous updates or correction of the programmed plan of needle delivery during intervention. Stereotactic robotic biopsy system, guided by real-time image of TRUS or MRI, offers a new biopsy technique to achieve precise 3D cancer mapping and reproducible targeting." @default.
