- W1508086103 abstract "Abstract Hydrochlorides of cyclic oximes, ketoximes, aldoximes, and an α,β-unsaturated oxime are studied by infrared and NMR spectroscopy. It is concluded that the proton adds to the lone pair electrons of the nitrogen atom in all these hydrochlorides. From the observation that separation of syn and anti proton shift is eliminated in hydrochlorides, the paramagnetic anisotropy of the hydroxyimino group is attributed to the lone pair electrons of the nitrogen atom. Lower field shifts of all proton signals are further observed. Separations between syn and anti proton shift and lower field shifts are calculated theoretically. It is found that theoretical assignment of the syn and anti protons of saturated oximes is interchangeable according to whether Marshall and Pople's formula or Buckingham's formula is used as an electric dipolar effect. However, the assignment for isophorone oxime can be definitely determined." @default.
