- W1510367178 abstract "Biofouling issues become major problems that occurred in membrane application for water and waste water treatment. Biofouling which is caused by the activity of microorganisms is the effect of acumulation of bacteria colony on the surface of the membrane. In this study, cellulose acetate membranes were prepared by adding chitosan as an antibacterial agent with various concentration. The modified membranes were tested in two stages, the first is characterization test that include membrane permeability test, FTIR, and SEM, the second is antibacterial test. S. aureus bacteria was used in this study by using inhibition zone methode. Compared to other variations, chitosan blending membran 0.5% had a better antibacterial levels. The result in antibacterial test showed that chitosan can be used as an agent antibacterial in membrane but it is less effective than when chitosan as a solution." @default.
