- W1510676358 abstract "This chapter investigates the Component Assignment Problem (CAP) in Con/k/n and its variant systems based on importance measures. It shows that invariant arrangements exist for Con/k/n systems with some special k and n values and that the B-reliability importance has a close relationship with the optimal arrangements of the CAP in Con/k/n systems. The chapter presents necessary conditions for optimal solutions for Con/k/n systems. It investigates the sequential CAP in the Con/2/n:F systems and presents the greedy algorithms that can produce the invariant optimal arrangement for the Lin/Con/2/n:F system. The chapter describes the CAP in some variations of Con/k/n systems, including consecutive-2 failure systems, series Con/k/n systems, consecutive-k-out-of-r-from-n systems, multidimensional and redundant Con/k/n systems, and others. For the CAP in these systems, the chapter focuses on invariant and variant optimal arrangements and their relationships with the patterns of the permutation importance and the Birnbaum- statistically independent, identically distributed (B-i.i.d.) importance. Controlled Vocabulary Terms consecutive system reliability; redundancy" @default.
