He attempted to distinguish between the disease causing this triad and other disorders causing somewhat similar symptoms. Meniere died one year after the publication of his paper. His original clear description was misquoted and erroneously translated. The result is that most physicians after him have understood the disease he described less well than Meniere did.In recent years, interest in Meniere's disease has heightened.
