In 1932 Loeffler1first described a syndrome characterized by these two signs. By 1940, 1052cases had been reported in the literature, 51 of these by Loeffler.3Most of the cases since then have come from the central European area. In 1945, Miller4reported one case and could find but four similar cases reported2, 5, 6, 7in this country.
