- W1519384301 abstract "ABSTRACT The design of an efficient seawall should be such that the overtopping is minimized even during coastal flooding and extreme events by maintaining its crest elevation as low as possible. It is believed that this could partially be achieved by taming the waves back to towards the ocean, however, not by reflection as in the case of a vertical wall. Curved front face sea walls can be one of the options to fulfil this requirement. Such curved configurations have been chosen for the study and the purpose of comparison the action of random waves on a vertical wall is considered. The experimental investigation on dynamic pressure variation along the surface of the two seawall models placed over a bed slope of 1 in 30 and subjected to the action of random waves described by the Pierson Moskowitz spectrum were conducted. The results on the variations of dynamic pressures on the seaward face of both the models were compared and discussed." @default.
