- W1520687552 abstract "The z-domain is used to analyze digital controllers in much the same way that the s-domain is used to analyze analog controllers. Transfer functions of “z” are similar to those of “s,” in that both are usually ratios of polynomials. Aliasing is an undesirable effect that is seen in sampled systems. When the input frequency is greater than half the sample frequency, the sampled points do not adequately represent the input signal. Anti-aliasing can also be carried out with digital filters using a technique called over sampling. High-frequency components may be added to the command with electrical noise or interference (EMI) coupled from other equipment or from the controller's own power converter. z-Domain functions are implemented with computer algorithms just as s-domain functions are implemented with circuits. These algorithms are executed once each cycle of the controller after the input is sampled. Quantization is a nonlinear effect of digital control systems. It can come from the resolution limitations of transducers or of internal calculations." @default.
