- W1520795404 abstract "EnglishThe effect of three ethnological groups upon temperament was evaluated with 1) crossbreds, represented by animals originated from crossings between European bovines and Bos indicus, 2) European, represented by animals of Hereford, Aberdeen Angus, Charolais, Red Angus, Devon breeds and 3) indicus, randomly distributed to the treatments according to a completely randomized design. Temperament was evaluated through attribution of behavior score (BS) and measu-rements of flight time (FT) and flight distance (FD). Body weight and facial whorl localization score (FWL) were also evaluated. A higher percentage of indicus and crossbreds animals presented larger BS values than European animals, 60, 33 e 5.5%, respectively (p=0.002). European animals presented larger values of TS than crossbreds and indicus, 1.84, 1.37 and 1.31 seconds, respectively (p=0.0001). 2) European animals had smaller flight distance than crossbreds and indicus, 8.04, 10.12 and 11.80 meters, respectively. There was no significant linear association between FWL and ethnological groups (p=0.403). Indicus gained more weight than crossbreds and European, 0.60, 0.44 and 0.42 kg/day, respectively. Behavior attributes were moderately correlated. Ethnological groups influenced the temperament of the animals handled extensively, the indicus and crossbreds animals showed greater reactivity than European animals. @default.
