- W1520988230 abstract "While developing online liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC–MS), three fundamental compatibility problems have to be solved: the amount of solvent eluting from the LC column, the composition of the LC mobile phase, and the nature of the analytes. A wide variety of interfaces have been developed to be placed between the LC column outlet and the mass analyzer to solve the incompatibility with respect to the amount of LC solvent and the high vacuum in the mass analyzer. These developments have led from interfaces capable of the introduction of 10 μL/min of organic solvents to the powerful and robust interface technology, which allows the introduction of 1 mL/min of aqueous mobile phase. This chapter reviews the developments in interfacing of LC, capillary electrophoresis (CE), and supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) with mass spectrometry. The chapter emphasizes the application of the technology in environment analysis in the fields of pesticide and azo dye analysis. Four most important LC–MS interfaces in environmental analysis are discussed in detail—namely, thermospray, particle beam, electrospray, and atmospheric-pressure chemical ionization (APCI)." @default.
