• W1521932174 abstract "Introduction: The flap of the pectoralis major (RMPM) raises questions as to its applicability in repairing craniofacial defects and midface. objectives: To evaluate if the pedicle length of RMPM well as their power to various sites cervicofacial region are influenced by demographics and the side flap dissection. materials: We studied 15 patients undergoing reconstruction of cervicofacial defects. methods: A standardized in an island skin quadrangular, measuring 8x6 cm located on sternocostal portion of the pectoralis major muscle, medial to the nipple and with the boundary flow upper edge of the seventh rib. The flaps were based on the pectoralis branch thoracoacromial artery and the rotation was supraclavicular. The length of the pedicle was measured after the rotation. We tested the range of the center of the island skin flap for certain regions. We analyzed the relationship of the pedicle length and scope of retail with anthropometric data and the side of dissection. Results: The length of the pedicle had a mean value of 16.03 ± 1.35 cm. The flaps reached all the regions studied, except the orbit, achieved in 13.3% of cases. Univariate analysis showed statistically significant positive correlation between the length of the pedicle and the length of the sternum - CE and also significant negative correlation with the ratio of the mastoid-sternal notch by the length of the sternum - DMF / EC. Identified that the length of the sternum as the only variable able to determine the length of the vascular pedicle of RMPM (COMP), establishing the equation: COMP = 2.54 + 0.64 X CE. Conclusions: Despite the range of the flap is not influenced by anthropometric data, this anatomical model infers that the equation determining the length of the pedicle can contribute to the planning of reconstructions using RMPM, especially for more cranial defects." @default.
