Kontrole (bicme yapilmamis) gore; m 2 'deki basak sayisi, basaktaki tane sayisi, 1000 tane agirligi ve tane verimini kardeslenme donemindeki bicme uygulamasi sirasiyla % 20.4, 4.9 adet, 2.4 g ve % 29.0; erken sapa kalkma donemindeki bicme uygulamasi ise sirasiyla % 67.7, 9.1 adet, 7.5 g ve % 64.3 azaltmistir. Tane verimi yonunden ''genotip x bicme zamani'' interaksiyonu onemli cikmis, bicmenin neden oldugu tane verimi kayiplari; verim potansiyeli dusuk, uzun boylu ve yatmaya duyarli genotiplerde (Yayla-305, Kirik) daha az olmustur. Anahtar kelimeler: Bicme, verim ve verim unsurlari, kislik bugday THE EFFECT OF CLIPPING TREATMENTS AT EARLY GROWTH STAGES ON YIELD AND YIELD COMPONENTS OF WINTER WHEAT GENOTYPES ABSTRACT: Wheat crop is mainly grown for its grains, however, it can be used as a forage source by clipping or grazing at early stages of plant development. The effect of clipping at tillering and early jointing stages on yield and yield components of 5 winter wheat genotypes (Bezostaja-1, Dogu-88, Yayla-305, Kirik, Turkey-13) was studied under Erzurum conditions in the cropping seasons of 1996-97 and 1997-98. The results showed that differences among the genotypes in term of all characteristics were significant. Of the genotypes tested, Turkey-13 had the highest grain yield (256.8 kg/da) and kernel number (23.3) per spike. Clipping treatments at tillering and early jointing stages decreased spike number per m 2 by 20.4 and 67.7 %, kernel number per spike by 4.9 and 9.1, 1000-kernel weight by 2.4 and 7.5 g, grain yield by 29.0 and 64.3 % compared with unclipped control treatment respectively. ''Genotype x clipping stage'' interaction was significant for grain yield. Grain yield losses due to clipping treatments were low in tall and lodging susceptible genotypes with poor yield potential (Yayla-305, Kirik). The results showed that clipping or grazing at early growth stages of winter wheat may not be suitable under Erzurum conditions.
