- W1532734626 abstract "Gestational trophoblastic disease (GTD) constitutes a heterogeneous group of diseases that affect women generally of reproductive age. Molar pregnancies are benign disorders of the placental trophoblast that arise from an excess paternal genomic complement in the absence (CM) or presence (PM) of maternal chromosomes. Unlike low-risk GTN that can be cured more than 98% of the time in areas where chemotherapy is available, high-risk disease can present with aggressive disease including widespread metastasis with the distinct possibility of requiring additional modalities, including surgery, radiation, and sequential multiagent regimens. Following molar pregnancy, experts recommend 3–6 months of HCG follow-up while the patient is on some form of birth control. Following GTN in remission, a 1-year follow-up is indicated with recommendation for no intervening pregnancy that can confound HCG monitoring." @default.
