- W1536425903 abstract "Abstract Aggressive periodontitis is an inflamed condition in periodontium which caused the loss of attachment and rapidly bone resorptions. The occurance of aggressive periodontitis is correlated to the excessive accumulation of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans ( A. actinomycetemcomitans ) on the oral pellicle. Green tea ( Camellia sinensis ) is known as one of the herb drinks which has antibacterial effects. The purpose of this experimental laboratory study was to know antibacterial effect of brewed green tea on the growth of Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans as periodontopathogen of aggressive periodontitis. Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans which cultured in AaGM medium and incubated in 37 o C in anaerobic condition and examined for its turbidity by spectrophotometric. The effect of brewed green tea on A. actinomycetemcomitans growth was tested by using agar diffusion method. The result of study showed clear zone forming around disc paper of A. actinomycetemcomitans by brewed green tea. The inhibition ability cathegory of brewed green tea was moderate. In conclusion, brewed green tea can affect the growth of A. actinomycetemcomitans as periodontopathogen of aggressive periodontitis with moderat inhibition ability. Terjadinya periodontitis agresif dihubungkan dengan dominannya bakteri Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans ( A. actinomycetemcomitans ) dalam plak gigi. Teh hijau ( Camellia sinensis ) merupakan minuman kesehatan yang memiliki efek antibakteri. Penelitian dengan desain eksperimental laboratoris ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek antibakteri rebusan teh hijau terhadap pertumbuhan A. actinomycetemcomitans sebagai agen penyebab periodontitis agresif. Aggregatibacter actinomycetemcomitans yang telah dikultur di media AaGM dan diinkubasi pada suhu 37 o C dalam suasana anaerob dan penentuan kekeruhan bakteri dilakukan dengan spektrofotometri. Uji pengaruh rebusan teh hijau terhadap pertumbuhan A. actinomycetemcomitans dilakukan dengan metode difusi agar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rebusan teh hijau ( Camellia sinensis var. sinensis ) membentuk zona hambat terhadap pertumbuhan A. Actinomycetemcomitans di sekitar kertas cakram dengan kemampuan daya hambat sedang. Sebagai kesimpulan, rebusan teh hijau memiliki pengaruh antibakteri terhadap pertumbuhan A. actinomycetemcomitans sebagai agen penyebab periodontitis agresif.
