- W1555722170 abstract "It is reported in the past that concrete is not a suitable material to be confined by glass fibre reinforced polymer (GFRP). If GFRP jackets are used in timber pile rehabilitation then a new filler material development is necessary. As a result, this research investigates the structural properties of new polymer based concrete with different proportions of resin, sand and fly ash. This research aims at rehabilitating a portion of a pile by using a GFRP pile. Due to good compressive strength, pumpability and workability, the new polymer based filler material is to be filled in between GFRP pile and existing pile. A research program has been initiated to improve fundamental understanding of this material and to provide the knowledge required for its broad utilization.In this development, sample trial mixes were considered based on several weight percentages of polymer resin, fly ash and sand. These weight percentages were selected after analyzing volumetric properties of sand. This paper presents and discusses the results from an investigation of uniaxial compressive stress-strain relationship of polymer based concrete. The effect of resin (binder), sand and fly ash contents on the compressive strength, flexural strength, split tensile strength, density, linear shrinkage and gel time of polyester polymer filler is reported. It has been found that most polymer based filler materials have high compressive strength and considerable plastic region extending more than 8% strain. The results show that the polymer based filler materials are suitable for both compression and tensile loading situations." @default.
