It briefly outlines the advantages/disadvantages of other coating processes with a special thrust on plasma spraying. Nano-scratch technique is found very effective for assessing the role of CNT in studying the adhesion of osteoblast cells on HA-based surfaces. HA-nanotube composites have shown high promise in overcoming the challenges regarding the use of HA in orthopedics, in terms of improving fracture toughness and wear resistance. Plasma spraying and spark plasma sintering (SPS) are the most suitable methods for preparing HA-CNT coatings and consolidates, respectively. TiO2 nanotubes are added to HA for promoting the apatite formation on Ti surface and improving the bond strength of the apatite coating with metallic substrate." @default.
