• W1561484080 abstract "RELATING CAMPING EXPERIENCE TO EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE AMONG COLLEGE FRESHMEN by Seungwon Nam The purpose of this research was to identify the relationship between camping experience and emotional intelligence in freshman. To examine the possible link between camping experience and emotional intelligence, this research employed quantitative methods to collect data for statistical analysis. Data collection consisted of two parts. First, a questionnaire was distributed to 202 freshman enrolled at San Jose State University to determine their level and type of camping experiences. Second, those same students were asked to complete the BarOn Emotional Quotient Inventory: Short (EQ-i:S), to assess and score their emotional intelligence. The collected data was analyzed using Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) versionl5 software, analysis of variance (ANOVA), and Tukey's HSD post-hoc test. The results of this study indicated that camping experience was positively correlated with a higher level of emotional intelligence in freshman.
