- W1564995487 abstract "The appearance of molecular pyridine ions has been studied up to 13 eV by photoionization measurements and by photoelectron spectroscopy using the Ar and Ne resonance lines. Six successive ionization potentials of pyridine have been detected in this way at 9.10, 9.56, 10.02, 10.72, 11.44 and 12.02 eV; these can be correlated with the successive orbitals levels given by Clementi and Petke, viz.: 1a2(π); 2b1(π); 11a1(N); 7b2(σ); 1b1(π); and 10a1(σ). The assignment proposed here partially disagrees with that given on the basis of the photoelectron spectrum obtained only with the He resonance line. The ionization potentials at 10.72 eV and 11.44 eV are not detected by the latter method. The analysis of the vibrational sequences appearing for each of these ionization potentials shows that the most widely excited vibrational modes, for each electronic state, are the A1(v9) and the A1(v10) modes. The frequencies of these modes vary for each of the electronic states detected." @default.
