Curves of longitude crack “c” versus cycles number “N”, are determined in samples of aluminum 3003 normalized on fatigue test by alternative flexion. The results were compared with three tests without any applied technique. The results show that the drilling procedure improves the fatigue life in 15%, whereas by indentation technique improves in only 4.2%. The biggest proportion improvement reached for drilling procedure is consequence of new crack nucleation of fatigue which takes an appreciable cycles number. On the other hand, the improvement reached by the indentation technique is consequence of the plastic zone with the corresponding compression residual stress that should cross the crack and slow down therefore the propagation of the crack. Additionally, the Paris equation parameters were obtained, verifying the validity of this relationship." @default.
