- W1566657411 abstract "Research findings on acculturation and mental health are complex. Previous research has demonstrated mixedresults indicating that an increasing level of acculturation can be associated with both detrimental and beneficialhealth outcomes. Research focusing on the association of acculturation and schizophrenia remains largelyunexplored. This study evaluated the relationship between acculturation and symptom severity with 47 Latino,Black, and White patients with schizophrenia. Results demonstrated that an increasing level of acculturation(rated from a modified version of the Suinn-Lew Self-Identity Scale) was associated with greater severity ofschizophrenia symptoms (rated from the Brief Psychiatric Rating Scale). However, the association betweenacculturation and symptom severity is intricate and varies by ethnicity. Study limitations are discussed." @default.
