- W1567250242 abstract "How can PISA contribute to the improvement of science education (and other subject areas)? We intend to show that the PISA Project is potentially a powerful instrument for improv- ing learning, teaching and curricula that has not been well used up to date in our country, thereby giving rise to serious misinterpretations that harm the extension of a quality educa- tion. PISA's potentialities and coherence with educational research contributions are shown and strategies that enable it to play its part in improving the teaching/learning process are proposed. In particular, the paper indicates the need for teachers in general to overcome their lack of knowledge of PISA's characteristics, an obstacle that has limited the positive influ- ence PISA might have had. In this sense, we recommend a wide-ranging information cam- paign, as well as profound changes in how results are presented." @default.
