- W1569263782 abstract "The interaction of a tidal stream with an accretion disk is reviewed with emphasis on numerical simulations. Beginning with crude 2D simulations showing the formation of an accretion disk in close binary systems, computational hydrodynamics have aided the study of Roche lobe overflow and the consequent stream/disk impact for the past 20 years. Today simulations are able to model three-dimensional flow with a limited amount of physics, providing a means of studying the properties of the tidal stream, the global properties of accretion disks, and the dynamics of the stream/disk interaction.
