- W1569350880 abstract "To determine the sensitivity and specificity of fetal three-dimensional ultrasound (US3D) to assess fetal nutrition through limb volume measurement and to compare these methods with fetal weight prediction using the Hadlock curve. This cross-sectional study enrolled 165 pregnant women, whose mean age was 30.3 years and between 33 and 41 weeks gestation. Initially, biometric ultrassonographic parameters were measured to estimate fetal weight (EFW) by the Hadlock 2 formula and the percentile was determined. The extended imaging virtual organ computer-aided analysis (XI VOCAL) was used for volumetric calculations, considering 10 sequential sectional plane areas, performed along the axial plane of the fetal upper arm and thigh. The proximal and distal epiphyses were the references. The percentile was determined in accordance with Cavalcante et al e Araujo Júnior et al curve published in 2011. After birth, body mass index (BMI) percentile of each newborn was estimated, according to Davidson curve (2011). Considering malnourished fetuses have postnatal BMI percentile < 10, the area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve (confidence interval of 95%) was used to compare the accuracy of fetal limb volumes and EFW to estimate fetal malnutrition. EFW percentile was 0.82 (0.75–0.89), thigh volume 0.96 (0.93–0.99), upper arm volume 0.95 (0.91–0.98), and sensitivity 92.9%, 100.0% and 78.6%; and specificity of 66.7%, 87.3% and 90.7%, respectively. The volumetric assessment of fetal limbs is more accurate in predicting fetal nutrition compared to the percentile of the Hadlock curve." @default.
