- W1569396408 abstract "The results of rheological investigations of aqueous dispersions of PVC plastisols containing plasticizer [(di-n-butyl) phthalate], surfactants (Table 1), organic pigments (Table 2), pigment pastes and water are presented. The products of ethoxylation of alcohols, fatty acids, ethanolamide and fatty amine were used as surfactants. Organic pigments applied were Blue B, Green BO, Orange RB, Red RLL, and Scarlet B. The flow curves of compositions were determined (Fig. 1) and on this basis the maximal viscosity (η 0) and pseudoplasticity factor (n) were found. Activation energy of viscous flow (Eη) of plastisol compositions (Fig. 2) has been calculated from Arrhenius-Guzman equation. The rheological properties of the following PVC plastisol compositions were evaluated: with addition of surfactants (SPC), or water+SPC, or pigments, or pigments+SPC, or pigment pastes+water. The results show that SPC addition decreases maximal viscosity and pseudoplasticity factor and - when additive content is up to 2% - decreases also activation energy of viscous flow. Pigment content in plastisol composition as well as increasing water content both lead to increase in all three parameters. Effect of each additive on rheological characteristics of PVC plastisol composition is complex but the evaluation of the effects of type and part of additives added to the composition on η 0, n, and Eη values is important for the technology of polymer coating materials' production." @default.
