Visitors come in four wheel drives, in cars, in buses and on bikes; they stay in tents and small lodgings; they walk, ride bikes, take trail rides and raft down rivers. Some of them even come in July to the Winter Classic where they race on skis, on foot, on bikes and in kayaks. Yes, three are tourists in the districts of Omeo.This chapter is written in the context of an ongoing two year planning and action research project in east Gippsland and follows in the ‘tradition’ of two conference papers (Macbeth 1995a, b) in being reflective and grounded in my experience of research and its context. But it goes further in also being reflective to the ‘clients’ of the project.
