- W157067678 abstract "Twenty-four genera and 50 species are represented in the northeastern part of the Department of La Paz. A new species for Bolivia has been added, Euterpe luminosa which was previously known as endemic to the Peruvian Andes. The diversity of palms with a DBH > 2.5 cm does not show a clear pattern with respect to the elevation. A 68% of the species is recorded in the lowlands below 500 m elevation, including inventories carried out in low lands or swamp forests, as well as in forests on alluvial terraces and premontane forests. The 27% was recorded in montane forests between 500 and 1.500 m elevation and 45% in montane forests between 1.550 and 2.000 m. The average density of the palms with a DBH > 2.5 cm varies between 31.8 and 47.3 individuals/0.1 ha. The highest density was found in the montane forest between 1.500 and 2.000 m with monotypic forests of Dictyocaryum lamarckianum and Euterpe luminosa. Twenty-two species are considered useful to local communities of Madidi, representing the 45% of the total number of species. Uses were included in eigth important categories and the most relevant one belongs to food source’s category." @default.
