During the past three and one-half years we have seen 28 cases that we considered to be of the idiopathic or benign variety. A case was considered of idiopathic etiology only if all known causes, such as rheumatic fever, tuberculosis, myocardial infarction, uremia, tumor, trauma, specific infections, etc., could be eliminated. All but six of these cases were...Bibliography1. BarnesBurchell ARHB: Acute pericarditis simulating coronary artery occlusion: a report of 14 cases, Am. Heart J. 23: 247, 1942.
