- W1570776759 abstract "Since the discovery of the iron-based superconductors in 2008, the cuprate superconductors are no longer the only class of high-temperature superconductors. In this chapter, the most important families (1111, 111, 122, 11) of iron-based superconductors are described. Their crystal structures, critical temperatures, and other physical properties are presented. In addition, their phase diagrams are considered. In the nonsuperconducting metallic parent compounds, the crystal structure changes from tetragonal to orthorhombic at low temperatures. Furthermore, an antiferromagnetic spin density wave (SDW) order is established. Doping can suppress the change in crystal structure and also the occurrence of the SDW order, and superconductivity occurs. In addition to the synthesis of iron-based superconductors, the status of the development of superconducting wires and tapes is described. The potential of the material is illustrated by the large critical current densities obtained in thin films of iron-based superconductors." @default.
