Sites inoculated with 10 5.7 plaque-forming units of HSV formed ulcerations which required approximately 6 days to reach full size and another 5 days to heal. Cultural and histologic findings correlated well with this clinical pattern. During the period of ulcer enlargement, but not afterwards, cultures from the lesions were positive for virus, and histologie signs were pathognomonic of a herpetic infection. The infection not only spread laterally along the mucosal surface but also extended into the local mucous gland ducts for a considerable distance. In contrast to the viral lesions, bacterial lesions in the same tissue site consisted of superficial abscesses which did not tend to ulcerate. Le virus de l'herpès simplex (HSV) est inoculé dans la muqueuse buccale de lapins et les lésions ainsi produites sont étudiées au point de vue clinique, culture et histologie. Les régions inoculées avec 10 5.7 unités de HSV, formant des plaques, présentent des ulcérations qui atteignent leur plus grande taille en 6 jours approximativement et guérissent en 5 jours. Les résultats fournis par la culture et l'examen histologique coïncident bien avec cette évolution clinique. Pendant la période de croissance de l'ulcère, mais non après, les cultures des lésions sont positives en virus et les signes histologiques sont pathognomoniques d'une infection herpétique. L'infection ne s'étend non seulement le long de la surface muqueuse, mais aussi gagne les canaux des glandes muqueuses locales sur une grande distance. Contrairement aux lésions virales, les lésions bactériennes dans la même région provoquent des abcès superficiels qui n'ont pas tendance à s'ulcérer. Das Herpes simplex-Virus (HSV) wurde in die Mundschleimhaut von Kaninchen inokuliert und die resultierenden Läsionen wurden klinisch, kulturell und histologisch untersucht. An Stellen, die mit 10 5.7 plaquesbildenden Einheiten von HSV inokuliert worden waren, bildeten sich Ulzerationen, die bis zum Erreichen des vollen Umfanges annähernd 6 Tage und bis zur Heilung weitere 5 Tage benötigten. Die kulturellen und histologischen Ergebnisse stimmten mit diesem klinischen Verlauf gut überein. Während der Periode der Vergrösserung des Ulcus, jedoch nicht danach, waren die von Läsionen beimpften Kulturen für das Virus positiv, und die histologischen Kennizeichen waren für eine herpetische Infektion pathognomonisch. Die Infektion breitete sich nicht nur seitlich entlang der Schleimhauotberfläche sondern auch in die lokalen Ausführungsgänge der Schleimdrüsen eine beträchtliche Distanz weit aus. Im Gegensatz zu den Virus-bedingten Läsionen standen bakterielle Läsionen im selben Gewebsbezirk als oberflächliche Abszesse, die nicht zur Ulzeration neigten." @default.
