- W15741910 abstract "FAPO-5 materials are synthesised using Fe(II) or Fe(III) as source of iron and triethylamine (TEA) or tetraethylammonium hydroxide (TEAOH) as “template”. Crystalline products are characterised by several physical methods including ESR and Mössbauer spectoscopy. Both Fe(II) and Fe(III) are observed in the crystalline products. Incorporation of iron into the framework results in increased unit cell volumes. ESR signals at g ≈ 4.3 and g ≈ 2.0 are assigned to Fe(III) in framework and in non-framework positions respectively. A combination of ESR and Mössbauer spectra for both gel and crystalline products shows that, when Fe(II) is used as iron source the products contains both Fe(II) and Fe(III) due to aerial oxidation at the gel stage. This oxidation can be minimised using a nitrogen purge. Syntheses using Fe(III) as iron source and TEA as “Template” also contain Fe(II) and Fe(III) in the product due to reduction of Fe(III) by TEA during the crystallisation process. Reduction of Fe(III) is minimised by syntheses at lower temperature using TEAOH in place of TEA. On calcination at 600 °C in air Fe(II) in FAPO-5 is oxidised to Fe(III) and iron is dislodged from the framework. Preliminary catalytic studies using xylene isomerisation show evidence for limited acid catalysis in samples of FAPO-5." @default.
