- W1574288198 abstract "Abstract A multi-modal input method by combining speech and touch-screen was studied. Since these two methods are complementary to each other, they can be used together to create more user-friendly human interface. To illustrate this, a multi-modal robot control simulation system was built on the Sun Sparc10 using the attached AD converter with 11.025kHz sampling rate. The task was defined as follows: An operator can operate the robot in the computer world by giving commands to the pseudo robot mapped on the display. To evaluate this system, the robot control simulation system using only the speech input method and a similar system using only the touch-screen input method were also developed. Six novice subjects performed two given tasks by using three input methods. After evaluating theses systems, it was found out that the multi-modal system incorporating both speech input and touch-screen input was able to cover up the deficiencies that were present when using only touch-screen input." @default.
