- W1574404477 abstract "Penicillin G, a s-lactam antibiotic is widely used in veterinary practice for the treatment of bovine mastitis and other animal diseases resulting in residues in milk. The purpose of the study was to standardize reliable method for the detection of penicillin residues in buffalo milk using liquid chromatographic (LC) technique. Milk samples spiked with various concentrations (4, 10, 20, 50 and 100 ng/ml) of penicillin G were subjected for extraction and cleanup procedures, followed by derivatization with mercuric chloride in the presence of 1,2,4-triazole at 55°C. The method was validated by replicate analysis of spiked milk at different concentrations and the specific recovery and relative standard deviation were calculated. The mean recovery range was 51–77% and the relative repeatability standard deviation was 3.66–14.82% on level 10–100 ng/ml for method validation study. The detection limit of the procedure was found to be 4 ng/ml of penicillin G in milk." @default.
