- W1575201100 abstract "In rapeseed‐breeding program, research on resistance to biotic and abiotic stresses plays an important role in biological improvement of new materials. In this chapter, two aspects of rapeseed breeding have been discussed: development of alloplasmic interspecific hybrids and their resistance to the important fungal pathogens. The new methods have allowed to receive new hybrids with cytoplasms of brussel sprout, curly leaf kale, and pasture cabbage. New forms of winter rapeseed have been obtained, which are more resistant to frost and fungal pathogens like Leptosphaeria maculans (Desm.) Ces. et de Not., conidial stage Phoma lingam (Tode ex Fr.) Desm. (lately a new subspecies was determined by sequentioning of DNA; L. biglobosa nov.), Sclerotinia sclerotiorum (Lib.) de Bary., and Alternaria spp. In order to identify the newly received rapeseed hybrid forms, DNA molecular markers have been searched that unambiguously give information about origin of the new rapeseed hybrids. This approach fully responses to recent expectation of worldwide rapeseed breeders. Some other issues such as generating interspecific rapeseed hybrids by isolated embryo in vitro technique, cytological analysis of DNA of species used in remote crossing as well as their progeny, and advantages of using the new hybrids in resistance‐breeding program have also been discussed." @default.
