• W1575369905 abstract "In this thesis the hadronic structure of proton-proton collisions, the “underlying event”, is analyzed by studying charged particle distributions. The measurements are based on data taken in March 2010 with the ATLAS detector at a center-of-mass energy of √ s = 7 TeV. A proton-proton interaction consist of several components. The hard scattered part is identified using jets and the remaining low scattered reactions are defined as “underlying event”. By a separation of the azimuthal space with respect to the hard scattered part it is possible to define regions in phase space which are sensitive to the underlying event. In these regions, the charged particle density, the transverse scalar momentum sum density, the mean transverse momentum as well as angular distributions with respect to the hard scattered part are measured. The measurements are compared with various prediction from Monte Carlo simulations. All models shows a significant difference to the measured distributions. Kurzdarstellung Im Rahmen dieser Analyse wurden Messungen von Verteilungen geladener Teilchen durchgefuhrt, welche sensitiv auf die hadronische Struktur von Proton Proton Kollisionen, dem sogenannten ” Underlying Event“ sind. Die Messungen basieren auf Daten die im Marz 2010 mit dem ATLAS Detektor bei einer Schwerpunktsenergie von √ s = 7 TeVaufgenommen wurden. Eine Proton Proton Wechselwirkung besteht aus vielen Teilwechselwirkungen der einzelnen Hadron Komponenten. Der hart gestreute Anteil wird mittels Jets identifiziert und die verbleibenden schwacher gestreuten Reaktionen werden als Underlying Event definiert. Durch eine Aufteilung des Azimutalraumes bezuglich des hart gestreuten Anteils lassen sich Regionen im Phasenraum definieren, die besonders sensitiv auf das Underlying Event sind. In den so definierten Regionen wurden die Dichte der geladenen Teilchen, die Dichte der transversalen Teilchen Impulse, der mittlere transversale Teilchen Impuls, sowie Winkelverteilungen bezuglich des hart gestreuten Anteils gemessen. Die Messungen wurden mit Monte Carlo Simulationen verglichen, wobei bei den betrachteten Modellen signifikante Abweichungen zu den gemessenen Daten beobachtet wurden." @default.
