- W1576558049 abstract "This chapter considers structural equation and factor models for latent variables or constructs, where observed data on measured indicators are used to define (i.e. serve as proxies for) the underlying constructs. Questions of identifiability and identifying constraints are considered (standard factors or unit loading constraints), and also the question of label switching. The commonly applied situation of simple structure under confirmatory factor analysis is discussed, and illustrated in worked examples. Nonlinear factor models and selection of loadings are also considered. Specialised applications such as factor models for time series and longitudinal data (dynamic factor models), and structural equation methods for spatial data are included. Item response approaches for multiple binary items are compared, and also latent class and latent trait models for multiple categorical items. Structural equation and factor models for multilevel data and missing data applications are also discussed." @default.
