- W1581801908 abstract "Field experiment was conducted in durian variety Chanee at Chanthaburi in order to develop an integrated pest control system, from June, 1992 to May, 1994. The key pests and most economicaly important insect species of durian insect pests were, durian psyllid (Allocaridara malayensis Crawford (Homoptera:Psyllidae), castor capsul borer Conogethes punctiferalis Guene (Lepidoptera:Pyralidae), african red mite Eutetranychus africanus Tucker (Acariformes:Tetranychidae), mealy bug Pseudococcus sp. (Homoptera:Pseudococcidae) and durian seed borer (Mudaria magniplaga Walker) (Lepidoptera:Noctuidae) and the action threshold were set for species. Effects on populations of pests and economic cost were assessed. Based on two-year comparative trials in farmers fields showed the control of pests by application of pesticide were effective and cheap, but may cause a resurgence of a pest population because of (1) the development of resistance by the pest and (2) nonselective killing of predator. The Durian Team of Thai-Germany Project was attempted to develop methods of pests control that would not affect natural enemies, such as the sprinkle application over durian tree was applied to control African red mite (Eutetranychus africanus Tucker), but some effected on phenology of durian which caused reduced the yield so in a net return of IPC field trial lower than in farmer trial. For long-term tree the R and D to support IPC strategies, field trial have to be continuously developed." @default.
