- W1588461108 abstract "Seismic reflection was used to study deep inter faces for strati graphic subdivision of the sectio n. The geologic effectiveness of the reflection method is presently one of the main problems, and in spite of using various techniques and modern equipment, the problem remains unsolved. To the causes of this low effectivene ss are referred: the complex seismi c character of the deep inter faces complicated by rapid change in physical parameters of individual layers, and also the seismogeologic conditions in the region u nder investigation. The presence in the section of numerous interfaces gives rise to interference, resolution of which is very diffi cult. In recent years, as has been established by workers in MINKh i GP, VNIIgeofizika, good results have been obtained in exploration of complex seismic boundaries by the regional directional reception meth od. In connection with the great resolving capacity of this method in comparison with the usual modification of the reflection method, in the sections studied it was poss ible to trace boundaries of geologic media that in seismic respects are rough, not reflecting. In 1962-63 VNIIgeofizika carried out the first seismic studies by the met hod of regional directio nal reception in the BavlyBaltayev zone. These investigations included study of the possibility of registering and continuous tracing of reflecting waves distinctive of deep interfaces in the Bavly se diment and surface of the crystalline basement. Profiles of observation were made using SS-30-60 seismic stations and RNP OPZ-2M oscillo graphs. SPM-16 seismic receivers were used to register vibrations. The reverse profiling method was used. The explosion interval wa s 400 m, and the spacing of the receiver interval was 400 m, and the spacing of the receiver channels was 25 m. The summarizing base was 200 m. The total length of the seismi c array was 1475 m; the regional directional reception - 800 m. Grouping of geophones was used to suppress low velocity wave interference (five receivers in a group on a base of 28 m). Cross observations were made to detect secondary waves. The distance between the cross observations was 400-800 m. Summarizing of the regional directional r eception records was carried out on a PFS-2 summarizer. The rate of summarizing was equal to the rate of r ecording (50 mm per sec). A regional directional reception profile 23 km long was run in the large north part across the trend of a relatively narrow depression of east-west trend that had b een found by geological-geophysical studies. Up until r ecently its deep structure was b ased on individual wells drilled in the depression on a refraction survey on the basement carried out in 1958. The deep structure of the Bavly sediments and of the basement was studied more fully by regional directional reception in 1962-63. See Fig. 1. The depression coincides with the Bavly-Baltayev valley. This zone abuts against the uplifted part of the Tatar dome and is separated from it by a tectonic step, which coincides with gravity and magnetic steps. These investigations indicate that the surface of the crystalli ne basement has a strongly differentiated relief of typical bloc k character and plunges stepwise in the direc tion of the uplifted part of the Tatar dome toward the central part of the graben. O n the north segment of the profile to well 491 the plunge of the surface of the crystalline basement is smooth. Further on there is considerable plunge from - 1650 to -2000 at point 70, on the background of which a local complication with an ampli tude of 70 m occurs at points 40-45." @default.
