- W1589801887 abstract "With the ever-increasing exploitation of wind turbines for electric power generation, their effects on short circuits are among the important issues in this respect. This issue is of great importance when relays setting and reliability studies are the case. Thus, in this paper, short circuit analysis of two types of wind turbines, i.e., double-fed induction generator and full converter generator wind turbines, are performed in Standard IEEE 33-bus distribution system using ETAP software. Short circuit calculations comprise of balanced three-phase short circuit fault, balanced single-phase short circuit fault, phase-to-phase short circuit fault, and two-phase to ground short circuits. Overall, four scenarios are considered as case studies. The test cases are: base case (without wind turbines), upstream placement of wind turbines, downstream placement of wind turbines, and distributed placement of wind turbines in load centers in distribution network.
