- W1590301410 abstract "The combination of synthetic polymers with biomolecules is an appealing strategy to produce macromolecules with distinctive properties. This chapter focuses on the bioconjugation of amino acids/peptides/proteins, carbohydrates, nucleic acids, and bioactive molecules such as drugs and contrast agents with synthetic polymers. The polymers synthesized by radial polymerization and living radical polymerization (LRP) can be used to produce biohybrids, using a variety of bioconjugation techniques. Typical conjugation of biomolecules with synthetic polymers is done either by “grafting to” or “grafting from” approach. Creative combination of available polymerization approaches and covalent and noncovalent conjugation reactions have produced biomolecular chimeras with controlled properties." @default.
