- W159072368 abstract "Eight years ago, in the year 2000, in Manaus -- Brazil, the SBCCI-Symposium on Integrated Circuits and System Design, and the SBMICRO-Symposium on Microelectronics Technology and Devices Conference, joined and inaugurated together the most important South Hemisphere forum for the presentation of research results and experience reports on leading edge issues on integrated circuits and systems technology, design and test. In 2001, the SForum -- Microelectronics Student Forum, joined SBCCI and SBMicro, under the umbrella name of Chip in the fantasy name of the Brazilian region. Since then we experienced the successful Chip in the Pampa I - held in Porto Alegre in 2002, Chip in the Sampa - held in Sao Paulo in 2003, Chip in the Reefs -- held in Porto de Galinhas in 2004, Chip in the Island -- held in Florianopolis in 2005, Chip in the Mountains -- held in Ouro Preto in 2006, and Chip in Rio -- held in Rio de Janeiro last year. Now we are back to the Southern part of Brazil with the Chip in the Pampa II, and we welcome all of you to Gramado for the 21st edition of SBCCI, the 23rd edition of SBMicro, and the 8th edition of the SForum. Gramado is a mountain resort in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, one of the top tourist destinations in Brazil, located 120km away from Porto Alegre and characterized by the influence of the German immigration in the region and by its excellent and diverse cuisine. As part of the Chip in the Pampa, organized by UFRGS - the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, SBCCI is co-sponsored by SBC -- the Brazilian Computer Society, SBMicro -- the Brazilian Microelectronics Society, the IEEE CASS -- Circuits And Systems Society, the ACM - SIGDA, Special Interest Group of ACM on Design Automation, and counts on the technical co-sponsorship of IFIP -- WG 10.5.Within this context, it is our great pleasure to invite you to enjoy the 21st SBCCI -- that celebrates this year its 25th anniversary and features topics such as high performance integrated circuits, advances in compression architectures, design for yield, circuit optimization and tools, architectural design and synthesis in embedded systems, FPGA and fault-tolerant designs, design for reliability, low power design and management, and networks-on-chip design and optimization. Those topics build 9 regular sessions, made up of 41 presentations rigorously selected out of 134 paper submissions. The technical program of SBCCI2008 is enriched by 1 keynote speech, given by Giovanni De Micheli, on system-level design technologies for heterogeneous distributed systems, and 3 invited talks given by David Pan, Ahmed Jerraya and Gordon Roberts, respectively on lithography friendly routing, on system design for 3D silicon integration and on time-domain analog signal processing. Additionally, previous to the conference, short tutorials will be given by Naveen Yanduru, David Pan, Gordon Roberts and by Paul Jespers on highly integrated, re-configurable RF front-ends in deep sub-micron, on modeling and optimization for nanometer IC design/manufacturing integration, on test methods for sigma-delta data converters and related devices and, on sizing CMOS circuits by means of the gm/ID methodology and a compact model. A technical panel is also planned that will address the challenges of the nanoscale era. Besides an exciting technical program, the Chip in the Pampa will also offer unforgettable social functions in the beautiful city of Gramado, that will teach you more about the local culture and southern Brazilian people." @default.
