- W1590919163 abstract "This chapter introduces the growth techniques applied to organic nanostructures. It outlines the size effects of nanostructures in terms their properties of absorption and luminescence. The chapter then describes the details of composite nanostructures-including core/sheath and uniformly doped structures in an effort to investigate the interactions that occur between various compositions in nanomaterials. This includes fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) and photo-induced electron transfer. A phenomenon termed aggregation-induced enhanced emission (AIEE) has been reported during recent years, in which an enhanced emission rather than fluorescence quenching was observed in the solid state for some fluorophores. Doping based on FRET has been widely used in electroluminescent (EL) devices, because it helps to improve the luminescence efficiency and to tune the emission colors. In a doped system, the slight variation in the content of the energy acceptor will result in a significant photoluminescence (PL) color change. Controlled Vocabulary Terms electroluminescent devices; energy exchange; organic compounds; photoluminescence; photonics" @default.
