• W1591547688 abstract "This paper outlines an integrative framework for the analysis of market constitutionand explores its application to solar power technology markets. These markets are currentlystill in the making and, therefore, particularly suited to studying constitutiveprocesses and the elements that play a role in them. In applying the framework to theconstitution of solar power technology markets in Germany from the mid-1990s, thepaper focuses on three examples of how constitutive mechanisms that trigger and drivemarket constitution processes and shape the constitutive elements of markets operatein distinct but interrelated ways: exploitation of technical inventions, business diversification,and political entrepreneurship. The analysis shows the role of market actors in“making” a market at the same time as these actors evidently become “marketized” byadopting market logic. Markets cannot be taken for granted in the field of solar powertechnologies or, rather, their actual taken-for-grantedness is one measure of the degreeto which their constitution has been achieved.Der Beitrag stellt einen integrativen Analyserahmen fur die Entstehung und Entwicklungvon Markten vor und wendet ihn explorativ auf Solartechnologiemarkte an. Dadiese Markte aktuell noch im Entstehen sind, eignen sie sich besonders fur die Untersuchungkonstitutiver Prozesse und der ihnen zugrunde liegenden Elemente. In der Anwendungdes Analyserahmens auf Solartechnologiemarkte in Deutschland ab Mitte der1990er-Jahre liegt der Schwerpunkt auf drei Beispielen dafur, wie verschiedene konstitutiveMechanismen den Marktentstehungsprozess auslosen und antreiben, dabei nichtnur getrennt wirken, sondern auch zusammenspielen und somit insgesamt die konstitutivenMarktelemente formen. Die Beispiele beziehen sich auf die Nutzung technischerErfindungen, Geschaftsbereichsdiversifizierung und politisches Unternehmertum. DieAnalyse zeigt, welche Rolle Marktakteure bei der Erschaffung eines Marktes spielen,wahrend sie selbst zugleich durch die Ubernahme der Marktlogik „vermarktlicht“ werden.Markte sind im Feld der Solartechnologie keine Selbstverstandlichkeit.
