Entretanto,em seu uso pratico,este tema fica restrito a concepcoes mais classicas,como a de Euler.Em ambos os casos,parece haver uma dicotomia entre a linguagem matematica utilizada para lidar com o “teorico” e aquela para expressar as questoes “praticas”. We present here a qualititative study on how high school mathematics teachers use mathematical language upon treating ideas on the concept of function. Our purpose has beem to investigate the ways in which these teachers deal with their own conceptions about the theme, as well as how they explore that concept in the classroom. We see coincidence in thair essential aspects in both situations. Also,we found out that teachers formal mathematical language tries to approach the concept of function to more up-to-date definitions, such as by Bourbaki and Dirichlet’s.However, the practical use of this concept is restricted to more classical conceptions, such as Euler’s In both cases, there seems to be a real dichotomy between the mathematical language dealing whith theoretical frameworks, and the language used to express “practical” essues and situations.
