• W1597365971 abstract "NANANG TRIONO BASUKI: Determinant Factors of the Score of the National Mathematics Examination in Senior High Schools in Central Sulawesi Province. Thesis. Yogyakarta: Graduate School, Yogyakarta State University, 2009. This study aims to investigate the determinant factors of the score of the National Mathematics Examination in Senior High Schools (SHSs) in Central Sulawesi Province. The factors include (1) the policy of the office of education in the regency/city to administer the national examination, (2) the school attempt to improve the results of the national examination, (3) the teacher attempt to improve the results of the national examination, (4) the score of the National Mathematics Examination in Junior High School (JHS) and (5) the mathematics mean score in SHS for 6 semesters as reported in grade records. The study was an ex post facto study involving a population of 6100 students from 10 regencies/cities and a sample of 362 students. The sample was selected using the stratified sampling technique and the proportional random sampling technique. The primary data were obtained through a questionnaire administered to 66 respondents consisting of principals, vice principals, and mathematics teachers. The secondary data were obtained through students’ documents, namely the pure score of the national examination in JHS, the scores of mathematics in SHS for six semesters as reported in the grade record, and score of the national examination in SHS. The instrument validity and reliability was assessed using the Cronbach’s Alpha. The data were analyzed using the descriptive statistics and the linear regression analysis. The results of the descriptive analysis show that (1) the support of the office of education in the regency/city to administer the national examination six of 9 schools have very high category and three of 9 schools have high category, (2) the school attempt to improve the results of the national examination in seven of 9 schools have very high category and two of 9 school have high category, and (3) the teacher attempt to improve the results of the national examination in all the 9 schools have high category. The results of the linear regression analysis show that (1) the policy of the office affect significantly the mean score of the national examination, (2) the school attempt affect significantly the mean score of the national examination, (3) the teacher attempt affect significantly the mean score of the national examination, (4) the students ability competence represented by the pure score of the national examination in JHS affects the score of the national examination significantly, (5) the students ability competence represented by the scores as reported in the grade record affects significantly the score of the national examination, and (6) the students ability competence represented by the pure score of the national examination in JHS and the students ability competence represented by the scores as reported in the grade record as an aggregate affect significantly the score of the national examination." @default.
