- W1600743511 abstract "Compare the accuracy of fetal weight estimation using the Hadlock formula & 3D measurement of fetal thigh by VOCAL. We examined 160 singelton pregnancies between 37 & 42 weeks. Fetuses were examined by 2D and 3D ultrasonography. EFW by 2D was calculated by the Hadlock formula and fetal weight was estimated by 3D by acquiring 3D volumes of the fetal thigh using the Vocal technique. The formula of birth weight: EFW = 1025.383 + 12.775 × ThiV. Both 2D and 3D US were not effective in accurate prediction of fetal weight in SGA fetus. On the other hand, agreement of 3D US was higher; 0.891 (0.806–0.940) than that of 2D; 0.590 (0.052–0.817) in FWE of LGA fetus. In addition,3D had significantly higher sensitivity in prediction of macrosomic fetus compared to 2D (93.0% and 67.4%, resp., P = 0.001). Both 2D and 3Dfetal weight estimation have accepted precision for prediction of neonatal birth weight especially for the normal weight range within the 10th and 90th centiles. Both might be less precise estimation when fetuses < the 10th percentile are considered. Concerning fetuses > 90th centile especially above 4 kg, VOCAL seems to be more precise compared to 2D.
