- W1604363019 abstract "Se realizo un estudio con un diseno de intervencion, que describe los conocimientos para la prevencion del VIH/SIDA de los estudiantes que ingresaron a la Carrera de Medicina (curso 2006/2007) en la Facultad de Ciencias Medicas de Pinar del Rio, con el objetivo de valorar su evolucion una vez aplicada una intervencion educativa. El universo estuvo constituido por 300 estudiantes de primer ano. La informacion se obtuvo a partir de una encuesta. Las variables cualitativas nominales fueron resumidas mediante frecuencias absolutas y relativas. Para el analisis se aplico la prueba de X 2 de McNemar al 95 % de certeza. Se concluye: Predomino la edad entre 18 y 19 anos, el sexo femenino. Tenian vida sexual activa con un comienzo entre los 15 y 19 anos. Conocian algunas vias de transmision del VIH, algunos criterios de comportamiento sexual responsable y el momento de colocar el condon, desconociendo los criterios de seropositividad y de reduccion del riesgo de infeccion. Posterior a la intervencion educativa incrementaron sus conocimientos sobre todos los elementos explorados con elevada significacion estadistica, por lo que se puede evaluar la intervencion de efectiva. ABSTRACT A study was conducted having a design of intervention which describes the awareness of the prevention of HIV/AIDS in the students that enroll Medical Studies at Ernesto Guevara de la Serna Medical University, Pinar del Rio, with the purpose of assessing knowledge progress when applying the educative intervention. The universe was comprised of 300 students from the first academic year, and the information was obtained applying surveys. The qualitative-nominal variables were summarized by means of relative and absolute frequencies. To its statistical analysis the X 2 test of McNemar was used to the 95% of certainty. Concluding that: Ages between 18-19 and female sex prevailed. This age bracket started an active sexual life between 15 and 19. They knew some ways of HIV-transmission, some criteria of a responsible sexual behavior and when wearing condoms. The seropositive criteria and the reduction of the risks of infection were unknown. After the educative intervention the level of knowledge increased respect to all the explored elements having a high statistical significance, the intervention can be evaluated as effective.
