- W1608163945 abstract "Cementation and dissolution related to regional diagenetic events can significantly alter the distribution of porosity and permeability in carbonate-prone systems. This chapter incorporates regional well cuttings-based sequence stratigraphic correlations to document the distribution of cementation and dissolution events across a Cenozoic mixed carbonate-siliciclastic passive margin. Updip diagenetic expression of supersequences is highly susceptible to overprinting by subsequent flooding events and sequence boundaries on an individual, composite surface. Mid-basin and downdip well locations have much thicker supersequence packages, allowing comparison of lithologic, stratigraphic and diagenetic fabrics to be made. Abrupt changes in cement stratigraphies across supersequence (and component sequence) boundaries may result from the deposition of regional aquitards during subsequent transgressive drowning of porous shallow to middle shelf facies, such that diagenetic leaching associated with subsequent eustatic fall was limited to the shallow, unconfined portion of the aquifer system." @default.
